Semax – COMPREHENSIVE RESEARCH PEPTIDE FOR NEUROPROTECTIVE AND COGNITIVE FUNCTION STUDIES

Scientific Overview of Semax

Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide analog derived from the adrenocorticotropic hormone fragment ACTH(4–10). It has been developed to investigate mechanisms of neuroprotection, cognitive enhancement, and neurotrophic modulation.

Research has shown that Semax influences brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression, synaptic plasticity, and adaptive responses to neural stressors, making it a valuable model peptide for neuromolecular and neuropharmacological research.

In in-vitro and in-vivo investigations, Semax has been studied for its effects on:

• Neurotrophic Factor Regulation – modulation of BDNF and NGF expression in neuronal tissue to explore mechanisms of peptide-induced neuroplasticity (Ashmarin et al., 1999)
• Cognitive and Memory Enhancement – evaluation of Semax’s role in improving learning performance and adaptive neurobehavioral responses (Volkov et al., 2005)
• Neuroprotective Activity – assessment of oxidative stress response, ischemic injury prevention, and peptide-mediated neuroprotection (Skorobogatova et al., 2011)

Semax serves as a key research compound for studies on neuropeptide-based modulation of brain function, stress resilience, and peptide-regulated gene expression in neural systems. Its unique mechanism of action makes it highly relevant to fields investigating cognitive therapeutics and neurodegenerative disease models.
